Big Scholarships for Homeschoolers Through SAT and ACT Preparation

One of the best things your student can do in order to get a big scholarship is to study hard for the SAT or the ACT. First, it's important to find out which test your student should study for. On my website and my blog, there are test samples for the SAT and the ACT. Have your child take a sample test in each one, and compare their scores to see which one makes them look like a genius.

One of the advantages of homeschooling is that you can take and use whichever test presents your student in the best possible light. That's why it's important to try a sample of each, in order to determine which one shows your student's strengths. Many students will do better on one test over the other, and a few will do equally well on both, so figure out which works best for your student.

The best way to get scholarship money is to raise your scores as much as possible. There are colleges that will publish right on their brochures exactly how much money each score on the SAT is worth to them. Many colleges will say "If you have a 550 on each section of the SAT, we'll give you five thousand a year. And if you have a 650 on each section of the SAT, we'll give you eight thousand a year. And if you have a 750 or better on the SAT, we'll give you twelve thousand per year." Multiply that by four. Just by studying for these tests, you could essentially earn forty-eight thousand a year towards college. It is a really big deal.

It's important to remember that colleges are businesses, and their business is partially rated by their SAT and ACT test scores. It's kind of like the stock market. A businesses stock market value will go up or down. The businesses will do better if it goes up, and worse when it goes down. It is the same with colleges. If their average SAT and ACT scores go up, their business is rated higher. If their average SAT and ACT scores go down, then their business is rated lower.
